THE SELECTION OF STREET TREES FOR SUSTAINABLE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS

The street trees play a key role for the urban neighborhoods. Given the harsh urban conditions its necessary to select trees and maximize their benefits. Many urban areas have a poor understanding of the importance of street trees and their sustainability, which presents a gap in our knowledge of selection of street trees. The tree species selection process defines the steps necessary to select a tree species that is appropriate for a given location. Investigations on urban As per Silvera Seamans (2013), sustainability has traditionally been defined as the balancing of environmental health, economic development, and equity or fair access to environmental and economic benefits.
