PREPARATION OF CAMELLIA SINENSIS (GREEN TEA) AND VACHELLIANILOTICA(BABUL) HERBAL BASED MOUTHWASH AND ITS CYTOTOXIC EFFECT.

Introduction: Importance of plaque control includes the use of mouthwashthat has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial action against specified microorganisms. Green tea herbal based mouthwash is non toxic, safe and helps in treating mouth sores, dental plaque, oral and topical infection caused by various microorganisms. Babul herbal extract called Acacia nilotica helps in treating gum disease and tuberculosis. Aim: Aim of the study is to find the cytotoxic effect of green tea and babul herbal based mouthwash. Materials and Method: Cytotoxic effects of the green tea and babul herbal extract were performed using brine shrimps for cytotoxic activity at 5µL,10µL,20µL,40µL,80µL concentration. Results and Discussion: The brine shrimp babies were alive on day 1. Day 2, 5μL concentration, 8 nauplii were found alive; 10μL concentration, 7 nauplii were found alive; 20μL concentration, 7 were found alive; 40μL concentration, 6 nauplii were found alive; 80μL concentration, 5 nauplii were found alive. In the control group all the nauplii were alive. Conclusion: The cytotoxicity of the green tea and babul based mouthwash showed an increase according to the increase in the concentration of the extract. The green tea and babul herbal based mouthwash showed a good cytotoxic activity.
