COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP OF THE MIGRANTS: A STUDY OF DINAWMENGESTU’STHE BEAUTIFUL THINGS THAT HEAVEN BEARS

This research paper analyses the complex relationshipof the migrants in DinawMengestu’s novel, “The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears”. It not only mention the struggles faced by the family of the immigrants who is left behind in their hometown, but also stresses the beautiful friendship formed among the immigrants and their mutual support for each other. As an immigrant, it is important to create an identity to survive. The immigrants also feel dislocated in their new environment. But, when one has a trustworthy friend, it becomes easy for them to survive and fit in the new environment. This paper also brings out the nostalgic feelings the migrants had of their family. The migrants remember their family whenever they witness or listen anything in their new surroundings. This paper also studies the racial problems faced by the citizens and the trauma caused as a result their broken relationships.
