This article discusses translations of A. P. Chekhov's stories into Uzbek, since the issues of translating his works still remain relevant. Many of his stories require new translation solutions to achieve partial, if not complete, equivalence. Chekhov's works are an exceptionally complex object of analysis and interpretation, which explains the fact of constant reprints of Chekhov's collections in foreign languages. The translation process requires preserving all the elements of the original, which contain historical and national specifics and serve to create a picture of the country in which the narrative is being narrated. If it is impossible to convey the original accurately, it is necessary, at least, to avoid an obvious discrepancy with it.
